Damneet Kaur also known as D. Kaur is a writer, poet, and educator raised on Kumeyaay Land (San Diego, CA) by way of Punjab. Immigrating to the United States at a young age, she weaves her diasporic experiences into her writing, exploring themes of identity, belonging, and resilience. For Damneet, poetry serves as an ancient and enduring vessel for storytelling, one that validates lived experiences and fosters deep connections among people.
She is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with an emphasis on poetry at Saint Mary’s College of California. Damneet holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Race and Resistance Studies from San Francisco State University, where her work began bridging the intersections of art, social justice, and healing.
Damneet’s creative practice is rooted in honoring ancestral traditions while carving space for contemporary narratives. Through spoken word and written poetry, she seeks to uplift voices that are often overlooked, offering both solace and solidarity to her audiences.
